Why You Don’t Always Feel Good After a Healing Session

There have been times in my life when I expected to feel better after a healing session.

Sometimes I would feel light, elated, and like I was on top of the world.

And sometimes…I felt worse than I did before.

In those moments, fear would take hold of me.
I would think something went wrong.
I would tell myself that I shouldn’t feel this way.

This doesn’t mean something went wrong.
It often means something deeper is moving.

Later, I learned that my body was dislodging, purging, and alchemizing old layers: old emotions, old energies, old ways of seeing.

If you experience this after a healing session, it’s completely normal.

What was held beneath the surface becomes available to be felt, processed, and released.

You might feel tired.
Emotions you might label as “negative” can rise to the surface.

If they do, don’t resist them.
Let them move. Let them express.

Here are some gentle ways to support your integration:

  • If movement feels right…move.
Go for a walk, do yoga, or move in any way your body is asking for.

  • Take a bath with Epsom salts, if you can.

  • Try free-form writing to let the energy move through you.

  • Ground your energy: place your feet on the Earth and allow yourself to settle.

  • Drink lots of water

  • Do your best not to overanalyze what you’re experiencing.
    It’s a phase.

This process can last anywhere from an hour to several days…sometimes up to a week.

Be gentle with yourself during this time, as your energetic system recalibrates.

Have you ever noticed this happening after your healing session?
